Nerd in the Sheets is a digital tools brand focused on helping foster and adoptive families organize the overwhelming logistics of care, including paperwork, medical information, school records, court dates, routines, and everything in between.
Founded by Mark Haggard, a stay-at-home dad with a background in operations, data analysis, and process improvement, Nerd in the Sheets was born out of lived experience. After navigating foster care and adoption firsthand since 2017, Mark realized that most systems weren’t built for real families with real lives. So he built his own and shared them.
The result: clean, flexible spreadsheets designed for tired parents who need clarity, not complexity.

Mark Haggard is a stay-at-home dad, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and former administrative and marketing professional living in Maine. He has a wife, four adopted children, multiple pets, and an unreasonable affection for well-structured spreadsheets.
Mark created Nerd in the Sheets after realizing the systems meant to support foster families often add more stress than clarity. His work blends data logic with lived experience, offering tools that actually work in messy, real households.

With professional experience in process improvement, analytics, and administrative leadership, Mark brings an uncommon mix of technical skill and emotional intelligence to the foster care space. Nerd in the Sheets is where those worlds collide: spreadsheets designed not for corporations, but for families juggling appointments, paperwork, trauma-informed care, and everyday life.
When he’s not building tools or wrangling kids, Mark creates content about parenting, organization, and finding humor in systems that were never designed with real people in mind.
